Sahara

Journey With Us!

26 November - 6 December 2024

Join us on an imaginative and experiential 10 night, 11 day journey in Morocco as we whisk away into the mystical Sahara and explore culture, craft and nomadic life. We're starting off in Marrakech where we’ll urban explore the labyrinthine medina, meet local entrepreneurs shaking up the design and art scenes and dine on the most delicious meals on magnificent rooftops. Then we’ll head southeast over the Atlas Mountains embarking on an extraordinary once-in-a-lifetime road trip, reaching the summit of Tizi n'Tichka, the highest major mountain pass in North Africa.

Travelling into the Draa Valley we'll follow an old spice route where trading caravans previously stopped on their way to Timbuktu. There we'll be immersing ourselves in the artisan wonders of local craftsmanship and entrepreneurialism.

Further to the very edge of the desert nestled in a palm oasis and Berber village, where architecture emerges naturally from the earth, we’ll discover a peace that touches our soul at a luxury eco-boutique hotel. This region is renowned for its plethora of sun-drenched kasbahs, music and a melting pot of different nomadic cultures. Here for three days, we'll enjoy this private luxury oasis tucked right into the sand dunes complete with a pool, three-course meals prepared by a phenomenal local chef worthy of a Michelin star and an evening with a private performance by musicians Daraa Tribes. With each member originating from a different tribe, their eclectic style is a magnificent fusion of ancestral tribal music and Saharan Blues, which can only be found in the oases of the North African Sahara.

We’ll then head into the Sahara desert by 4x4 vehicles traversing the sand dunes to get to this spectacular haven. We'll stay at a 4-star desert camp for two nights set among the towering vast Saharan sand dunes. Here you’ll enjoy the comforts of luxury, but also be about as off-grid as it’s possible to be, experiencing nomadic life in style.

Each tent is outfitted with lavish duvets and pillows, a private en-suite bathroom and tiled shower, fresh towels and toiletries and electrical sockets powered by solar electricity. You can enjoy a sunset camel ride and trekking trips, visits to local sites and nomadic families, guided walks, sand-boarding activities, admire sunrises or just completely relax and unwind surrounded by the magical dunes.

Afterward, we’ll be making our way back staying in Ouarzazate passing by the photogenic and historical Aït-Ben-Haddou for an evening at a stunning design-forward boutique hotel, renowned internationally for its interiors. We’ll end with a final magical night in Marrakech at an enchanting riad with a magnificent goodbye dinner.

The entire journey will be immersive, cultural and pushing you beyond your comfort zone, which is very much the natural tendency when visiting Morocco. You’ll witness the beautiful diversity the country has to offer from the bustling Medina of Marrakech, a culturally renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site, to the rural village roads as we head into the expansive Sahara.

We have designed a unique itinerary that will introduce you to the real Morocco exploring both urban and rural environments with a wide array of local perspectives guiding your hands-on experience. This trip is all-inclusive, to keep things stress free. From private transit all along the way and three beautiful meals daily to all eco-luxury boutique hotels. We've curated this itinerary with unbelievably unique experiences.

Below are some highlights of the itinerary we offer. If you have any questions, just contact us and we’ll prepare you with everything you need to know to make this incredible journey happen.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Our trips are for travellers curiously and creatively inquisitive with an adventurous spirit who are active and ready to step outside their comfort zone.

To maximise your time in Morocco, our itineraries involve moving both inside cities and between cities in the country. Major urban cities are not completely representative of a country. So our trips involve immersing you both in urban areas as well as very rural communities.

Each of our trip itineraries are designed for an intimate exploration of culture, craft and culinary delights. The experiences we’ve curated are hands-on and immersive. There is free time built into the schedule, but expect each day to be filled with wonderous journeying from breakfast through dinner. So if you love trying new things and are excited by learning different ways of life, this trip is for you.

  • On all of our trips there will be lots of walking, standing and moving sometimes in very high temperatures on uneven roads, rural terrain and fast-paced urban centres. At any given time, you could be negotiating a roadway with cars, trucks, motorbikes, crowds of people, donkeys and camels (or all of the above simultaneously).

Travellers should be willing and able to walk approximately 4 miles in a day as well as being able to walk up and down narrow staircases (sometimes without the aid of a handrail). Elevators and escalators are not present in the places we visit or stay at. Our return journey to the Sahara will be in 4x4 vehicles, which can be bumpy as they traverse the sand dunes.

If you have any questions, concerns, mobility issues or recently had surgery, please contact us at hello@majesticdisordertravels.com prior to booking.

  • Our travellers come from all walks of life from all over the globe. Despite this diverse background, you will find the group you are travelling with is very much a like-minded community with many shared interests, passions and careers. If you’re a solo traveller who does not want to travel solo, you will find a very interesting group of people to travel with on our trips.

At each of our accommodations, rooms can be configured to two beds or one bed. Solo travellers will be paired with another solo traveller of the same gender. The option of booking a private single room where you are the only one staying in the room throughout the trip is available with a supplementary cost, whilst supplies last.

Whether you’re travelling with friends, family, your partner or solo - the group starts off as strangers and by the end of the trip becomes like a family. We’ve had travellers who established business connections after meeting on a trip, others who became such good friends they began living together afterwards and many have gone on to travel together again both elsewhere and back on another trip with majestic disorder travels.

  • The accommodations we stay at throughout the trip are boutique, which is representative of the travel experience we offer. We prioritise location, character, charm, customer service and being locally-owned.

Our trips are about authenticity, so the places we stay at should embody that experience. Our trips are not high-end luxury, but they are not budget either. Boutique is a sweet spot that encompasses design, individuality and affordability.

We do not stay at corporate chains nor do we stay at hostels. None of our accommodations have fitness or business centres. Some have pools and air conditioning units, others do not.

For two nights we camp at a secluded 4-star desert camp. Each tent is outfitted with lavish duvets and pillows, a private en-suite bathroom and tiled shower, fresh towels, toiletries and electrical sockets powered by solar electricity.

  • You should arrive in Marrakech, Morocco at the Marrakech airport (airport code RAK) on the day our trip begins. Schedule your flight to arrive in the morning or early afternoon. Our trip begins at approximately 18:30 with a rooftop welcome drink and then we walk to dinner.

  • You can most certainly extend your trip by arriving before our trip begins or staying in Morocco longer after our trip ends.

Whether your extension is for 1-night or week(s), for an additional fee, we can plan this extension for you, which will be customised to your needs.

Any extension planning request should be submitted to us at the earliest convenience, ideally 60 days before the start of your trip, as accommodations book up fast and our small team are very busy especially during peak season.
